Hongjie Dai is a Chair Professor at The University of Hong Kong, affiliated with the ME department. His research spans chemistry, physics, and materials and biomedical sciences, focusing on materials with applications in electronics, energy storage, and biomedicine. Recent work includes near-infrared-II fluorescence imaging, ultra-sensitive diagnostic assays, a fast-charging aluminum battery, and inexpensive electrocatalysts for water splitting. Dai holds a B.S. from Tsinghua University, M.S. from Columbia University, and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
