Regular biography
Sungwoo Jeong is the H.C. Wang Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. His research interests include Numerical Linear Algebra, Random Matrix Theory, and classical matrix theory. He works at the intersection of these areas, focusing on the development of new algorithms in numerical linear algebra, such as matrix factorizations, and deriving theoretical results through numerical methods. His research also explores connections between discrete and continuous random matrix theory, including ghost beta random matrices and noninteger sized random matrices. Jeong's work has been published in journals such as the SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications and the Journal of Mathematical Physics.
