Regular biography
Shiliang Gao is an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. His research focuses on combinatorics and related problems in algebra, geometry, and representation theory, with particular interest in combinatorics arising from spaces with large group actions such as flag varieties, Grassmannians, and Schubert varieties. His work includes publications on topics such as standard monomials for positroid varieties, quantum Bruhat graphs, and Newell-Littlewood numbers. Gao is affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and teaches courses such as MATH 1110: Calculus I and MATH 3040: Prove It! in the upcoming academic year.
