Regular biography

Rachel Webb is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. Her research focuses on algebro-geometric problems inspired by Gromov-Witten theory, particularly questions concerning moduli of (oribifold) curves and stable (quasi)maps. A central theme of her work involves understanding physical linear sigma models and how invariants of X can be derived from a GIT presentation of X, incorporating representation theory and stability theory. She is also developing new moduli of curves to better explore the geometry of X. Webb's publications include studies on the moduli of sections, virtual cycles of stable (quasi)-maps with fields, and the abelian/nonabelian correspondence for I-functions.
