Regular biography
Michael E. Stillman is a Professor and Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. His research focuses on algebraic geometry, computational algebra, commutative algebra, and algebraic geometry. His work includes the study of algorithm complexity, particularly Gröbner bases, and the development of algorithms for computations in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. He has contributed to areas such as Hilbert schemes, toric Hilbert schemes, and parameter spaces over the exterior algebra. Stillman is also involved in educational initiatives and has taught courses in commutative algebra with applications in algebraic geometry.
