Dan M. Barbasch is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. His research focuses on the representation theory of reductive Lie groups, particularly the classification of the unitary dual for groups over local fields and its relation to the orbit structure of the Lie algebra. He is also interested in the connection between these representations and problems in number theory, especially automorphic forms. Barbasch's work includes publications on Dirac cohomology, spherical unitary dual, and unipotent representations. He teaches courses such as Lie Groups and Lie Algebras and supervises research and reading projects.
