About
Regular biography

Tara Holm is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. Her research focuses on symplectic geometry, the natural geometry of classical and quantum mechanics, where coordinates come in pairs corresponding to position and momentum. She studies problems at the interface of symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, and discrete geometry, particularly the essential features of symplectic structures and symmetries that preserve them. With collaborators, she has uncovered intriguing patterns in quantitative data from her investigations and verified several patterns, leaving many open questions. Her work includes publications on topics such as toric symplectic four-manifolds and equivariant cohomology.
