Dr Ela Klecun-Taylor

Dr Ela Klecun-Taylor is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Management. She holds a BSc in Computing from Guildhall University and Master and PhD degrees in Information Systems from the LSE. Her research focuses on the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on institutions, work practices, and professional experiences. She has examined the application of ICT in healthcare, including national infrastructures and medical apps, as well as digital exclusion and ICT in education. Her work has been funded by UK research councils and published in journals such as JAIS, EJIS, and BMJ. She is a reviewer for major Information Systems and health informatics journals and has served as an associate editor for the International Journal of Digital Literacy and Digital Competence.

Ela Klecun's research focuses on Information Systems, Healthcare, Policy, Digital Exclusion, and Critical Theory. Her work explores the implementation and adoption of electronic health records in healthcare settings, emphasizing qualitative evaluation and the impact of technology on professional work. Klecun critically examines policy discourses surrounding IT in healthcare, particularly how telehealth and electronic prescribing systems influence patient-centred care and medication safety. Her studies also address digital exclusion, investigating how non-users engage with technology and the challenges of integrating marginalized groups into digital health systems. Through a critical theoretical lens, she analyzes institutional pressures, stakeholder behavior, and the ethical dimensions of telehealth and health IT.
