Regular biography
Hongbo YU is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. His research focuses on cryptanalysis and cryptographic algorithm design, particularly in the areas of hash functions and symmetric-key cryptography. He has made significant contributions to the field, including co-designing SM3, which was later adopted as ISO/IEC 10118-3:2018. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award (1st Class, Rank 6/12, 2020) and the Test-of-Time Award (International Association for Cryptologic Research, 2020). He has published extensively in top-tier venues such as CRYPTO, EUROCRYPT, ASIACRYPT, and FSE, with over 1,500 Web of Science citations.
