Regular biography
Haining FAN is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. His research focuses on computer arithmetic, particularly in the design of efficient algorithms for binary extension fields, with applications in cryptography and error-correcting codes. He has contributed to the development of novel multiplication algorithms, including the overlap-free even-odd-splitting Karatsuba algorithm, which earned the IET Information Security Premium Award in 2012. His work has been cited in several academic publications and has influenced hardware efficiency evaluations during the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography standardization process. FAN holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tsinghua University and has authored or co-authored numerous research papers in reputable journals and conferences.
