Regular biography
Prof. Yen Wei is a Chair Professor of Chemistry at Tsinghua University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. He was born in 1957 in Linchuan, China, and completed his undergraduate studies at Peking University in 1979. He earned his MS degree in 1981 under Prof. Xinde Feng and his PhD from the City University of New York in 1986 under Prof. George Odian. After postdoctoral work at MIT, he joined Drexel University in 1987, where he held various academic and leadership roles. Since 2009, he has been a full-time Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, leading the Tsinghua Center for Frontier Polymer Research. His research spans polymer, materials, and biological sciences, with contributions to fields such as conductive polymers, nanocomposites, and biosensors. He has authored over 541 scientific articles and holds 10 issued US patents.
