Michelle Effros

Michelle Effros is the George Van Osdol Professor of Electrical Engineering and Vice Provost at the California Institute of Technology. She is affiliated with the Electrical Engineering department. Her research interests include information theory, data compression, and network communications. She has held various academic positions at Caltech, including Assistant Professor from 1994 to 2000, Associate Professor from 2000 to 2005, Professor from 2005 to 2013, and Van Osdol Professor since 2013. She also served as Vice Provost starting in 2021. She teaches courses related to information theory, communications, and data compression.
