Katherine L. Katie Bouman

Katherine L. (Katie) Bouman is a Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology. She is also a Rosenberg Scholar and Investigator at the Heritage Medical Research Institute. Her research focuses on computational imaging, integrating algorithm and sensor design to observe previously difficult-to-measure phenomena. She collaborates with the Event Horizon Telescope to build a computational earth-sized telescope for imaging black holes and analyzing general relativity. Bouman's work combines signal processing, computer vision, machine learning, and physics for scientific discovery and technological innovation.
