Marti Hearst

Dr. Marti Hearst is a Professor in the UC Berkeley School of Information and the Computer Science Division. Her research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), with particular emphasis on search, information visualization, computational linguistics, and educational technology. She is the author of Search User Interfaces, the first academic book on that topic. Hearst co-founded the ACM Learning@Scale conference and has been recognized as an ACM Fellow and an ACL Fellow. She has received four Excellence in Teaching Awards from UC Berkeley students.
