John DeNero

John DeNero is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Education (EDUC). He teaches and co-develops two of the largest courses on campus: introductory computer science for majors and introductory data science. He is the author of Composing Programs and co-author of Computational and Inferential Thinking, two online textbooks. His work includes natural language processing and computer science education. DeNero joined the Cal faculty in 2014 to focus on undergraduate education in computer science and data science.

John DeNero is a researcher at UC Berkeley, focusing on machine learning and natural language processing. He has contributed to the development of methods for better alignment, including the use of Bayesian translation models and attention mechanisms.
