Irene Chen

Irene Chen is a Below The Line Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a joint appointment with UCSF’s Computational Precision Health program. Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biosystems & Computational Biology (BIO), with an emphasis on machine learning methods for improving clinical care and addressing bias in algorithmic models. Her work has been published in machine learning conferences and medical journals, and has been featured in media outlets. Chen received her PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and her AB/SM in Applied Math from Harvard.
