Regular biography
Prof. Emer. Yun, Chung-Bang is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at KAIST. His research focuses on structural dynamics, including dynamics of structures, soil-structure interaction analysis, safety and reliability of structures, system identification, damage assessment, and structural health monitoring. He has developed efficient infinite elements for modeling far-field soil regions in soil-structure interaction analysis and studied smart sensors such as PZT sensors and fiber optical sensors for structural health monitoring. Prof. Yun has collaborated with universities in the U.S. on structural health monitoring using wireless measurement systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University and has held various academic and research positions throughout his career.
