Yoon, Sukhwan Assoc. Prof.

Yoon, Sukhwan Assoc. Prof., is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at KAIST. His research focuses on environmental microbiology, specifically the study of microbial reactions to address environmental challenges such as greenhouse gas emissions and contamination. His work includes understanding and manipulating microbial carbon and nitrogen cycles to reduce emissions of methane and nitrous oxide, as well as exploring bioremediation techniques for toxic compounds. Yoon holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan and has conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and the University of Tennessee. His research group is based at the Environmental Microbiology Lab at KAIST.
