Kim, Jin-Soo

Professor Kim, Jin-Soo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at KAIST. His research focuses on climate system science, including the impact of increased greenhouse gases on the climate system, climate change adaptation and mitigation measures, and climate engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Environment Science and Engineering from POSTECH and has previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh and a Senior Researcher at the University of Zurich. His work explores the effects of climate change on ecosystems, health, food security, economy, and society.

Jin-Soo Kim is a researcher in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), specializing in atmospheric science, ENSO, climate change, terrestrial carbon cycle, and Earth system modelling. His work explores the interactions between climate variability and terrestrial ecosystems, focusing on the impacts of Arctic warming, CO2 physiological forcing, and El Niño–Southern Oscillation on carbon dynamics and fire activity. Kim's research integrates satellite observations, climate models, and long-term datasets to understand the feedback mechanisms between climate change and biogeochemical cycles, particularly in high-latitude and tropical regions.
