Jung, Hyung-Jo Prof.

Professor Jung, Hyung-Jo is a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at KAIST. His research focuses on structural dynamics, particularly structural vibration control using smart materials such as MR fluid and elastomer. He is affiliated with the Structural Control and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (SCaIS Lab.), where the goal is to develop smart structures technology for resilient infrastructure. Professor Jung's work includes the application of advanced sensing and actuation technologies to civil infrastructures. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from KAIST and has been associated with the university since 2007. His career includes roles at KAIST and Sejong University, and he is currently a professor at KAIST.

Hyung-Jo Jung is a researcher at KAIST, specializing in Smart structures technology, Structural control, Structural health monitoring, and Energy harvesting. His work focuses on developing advanced sensor technologies for structural health monitoring, such as wireless smart sensor networks and displacement measurement systems. He has also explored energy-harvesting methods, including broadband energy-harvesting systems and wake galloping-based energy harvesting. His research includes the application of magnetorheological (MR) fluid dampers for seismic response reduction and semi-active control systems. Additionally, he has investigated dynamic modeling and characterization of MR elastomers and their use in smart passive systems. His publications highlight the integration of smart materials and control algorithms for civil engineering applications.
