Patrik Willi Hoffmann

Patrik Willi Hoffmann is a Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Department of Electrical Engineering (EE). He leads the Laboratory for Photonic Materials and Characterization and is affiliated with the Laboratory for Optical Materials and Characterization (LPMAT). His research focuses on laser microprocessing, including advanced materials processing and deposition techniques such as high-voltage chemical vapor deposition. He has contributed to the growth of functional materials like BaTiO3 and LiNbO3 films. Hoffmann has held academic and research positions at EPFL, IBM, and Empa, where he has been a professor since 2009. He also serves as a professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology and the University of Technology Shenzhen.
