Alireza Karimi

Alireza Karimi is a Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Department of Electrical Engineering (EE). He leads the Data-Driven Modelling and Control Group and is affiliated with the STI and IGM departments. His research focuses on robust control, system identification, and data-driven controller tuning, with applications in mechatronic systems and electrical grids. Karimi earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Amir Kabir University (Tehran Polytechnic) in 1987 and 1990, respectively, followed by a DEA and Ph.D. in Automatic Control from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) in 1994 and 1997. He has taught courses on advanced control systems, automatic and digital control, and system identification at EPFL.
