David Cardwell

David Cardwell is Professor of Superconducting Engineering in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. His research interests include the processing, modelling, and characterisation of bulk superconductors for high field engineering applications, with a focus on high temperature superconductors within the (RE)BCO family and MgB2. His work addresses strategic themes such as energy, transport, and urban infrastructure, including applications in flywheel energy storage, low loss transportation, and fault current limiters. He leads the Bulk Superconductor research group and is involved in collaborative projects with industrial partners. He is also Treasurer of the European Society for Applied Superconductivity and a member of several editorial boards and advisory committees.
