Pui-Shum Shing

Pui-Shum Shing is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, inelastic behavior of concrete and masonry structures, bridge structures, finite element modeling of concrete and masonry structures, structural testing, structural control, pseudodynamic and fast hybrid test techniques. Shing has studied the performance of reinforced concrete bridge piers during the 1995 Kobe earthquake and has worked on the design and performance evaluation of bridge structures using high-performance concrete and fiber-reinforced polymers. He has published 125 refereed journal articles and conference papers since 1985 and currently serves as editor of The Masonry Society Journal.
