Chia-Ming Uang

Chia-Ming Uang is a Distinguished Professor and Chair in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on earthquake engineering, seismic analysis, and the design of steel structures, including buildings and bridges. Uang studies seismic code design issues and participates in code committees to ensure structural performance during earthquakes. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Uang has received multiple research and teaching awards, including the Raymond C. Reese Research Prize and the Moisseiff Award. He is coauthor of two textbooks on structural analysis and steel design.
