Jose I. Restrepo

Jose I. Restrepo is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. He serves as Chair and is affiliated with the Jacobs School of Engineering. His research focuses on seismic design of buildings, particularly through performance-based approaches. He explores construction alternatives for reinforced, prestressed, and precast concrete structures, emphasizing seismic resilience. His work includes shake table testing and the development of articulated buildings with linked components to enhance earthquake response.
