Regular biography

Robert Asaro is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of CE at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on composite design and manufacturing technologies for large-scale structures and marine applications, including the deformation, fracture, and fatigue of high-temperature intermetallics. Asaro develops composite materials for marine structures, such as corrosion-resistant pilings made from advanced composites. His work also involves bulk processing of high Tc-BSCCO superconductors. Prior to joining UCSD in 1989, he was an associate professor at Brown University and worked as a research scientist at Ford Motor Company and the U.S. Naval Radiological Laboratory.
