Regular biography
Eliezer Gafni is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. He joined the UCLA computer science faculty in 1982 after earning his B.S.C. from the Technion, Israel, in 1972, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and M.I.T., respectively. His research interests include distributed algorithms, mathematical programming with applications to distributed routing and control of data networks, and computer science theory. Dr. Gafni was awarded the 1983 IBM Faculty Development Award and the 1984 NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award. He has also received the Dijkstra Prize in 2017 and was honored at the 2010 Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing.
