Regular biography
Alfonso Cardenas is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and earned his B.S. degree from San Diego State University, followed by his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA in 1969. He served as a visiting scientist/consultant at IBM Corporation from 1972 to 1975 and has consulted for numerous organizations globally. His research interests include database management, distributed heterogeneous and multimedia systems, information systems planning, software engineering, and legal and intellectual property issues. He has authored and co-edited several books and publications.
