Jason Jingsheng Cong

Jason Jingsheng Cong is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is the Volgenau Chair for Engineering Excellence and Director of the Center for Domain-Specific Computing and the VLSI Architecture, Synthesis, and Technology (VAST) Laboratory. His research interests include electronic design automation, customized computing for machine learning and big-data applications, quantum computing, and highly scalable algorithms. Dr. Cong has published over 500 research papers and received numerous awards, including IEEE and ACM Fellowships, and has been recognized for his contributions to FPGA synthesis and VLSI interconnect optimization. He has also founded several successful startups and has graduated 41 PhD students, many of whom are now faculty members or industry leaders.

Jingsheng Jason Cong is a Volgenau Chair for Engineering Excellence in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at UCLA, specializing in customized computing, FPGA design, electronic design automation, and quantum computing. His research focuses on optimizing FPGA-based accelerators for deep neural networks, high-level synthesis for FPGAs, and delay optimization in lookup-table based designs. Cong's work also includes thermal-driven floorplanning for 3D ICs, automated systolic array synthesis for CNN inference, and energy-efficient CNN implementations on FPGAs. His contributions span VLSI interconnect layout, performance-driven global routing, and application-specific instruction generation for configurable processors.
