Sylvia Biscoveanu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Princeton University. She joined the university as an assistant professor of physics in September 2025. Biscoveanu earned her PhD in Physics in 2023 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed her postdoctoral research as a NASA Einstein Fellowship at CIERA at Northwestern University. Previously, she was a Fulbright postgraduate scholar at Monash University and obtained her undergraduate degrees at the Pennsylvania State University in 2017. A member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, her research focuses on probing astrophysics and cosmology with gravitational wave data. Specifically, she uses Bayesian inference techniques to learn about the properties of compact-object mergers, their electromagnetic counterparts, and the stochastic gravitational wave background.
