Shaun Davidson

Shaun Davidson is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Engineering Science Department at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). His research focuses on developing novel devices and machine learning models for the longitudinal monitoring of individual physiology. Currently, he works on the development and validation of machine learning methods for wearable sleep staging and illness detection. Davidson has research experience across institutions in New Zealand, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, and has collaborated with clinicians on translational projects. Prior to joining the IBME, he completed his bachelor’s and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, along with internships at the University of Liège, Belgium.

Shaun M Davidson is a biomedical engineer specializing in cardiovascular modelling, parameter identification, and wearable devices. His research focuses on developing advanced methods for estimating blood pressure, stroke volume, and fluid responsiveness using physiological signals such as photoplethysmogram and electrocardiogram. He explores the clinical utility of wearable technologies for continuous monitoring of vital signs and their circadian rhythms, particularly in critical care settings. His work also includes stochastic models for personalized glycaemic control and non-contact assessment of peripheral artery haemodynamics. Davidson's research bridges engineering and clinical practice to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
