Regular biography
Steve Collins is an Emeritus Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science. His research interests include the development of receivers for visible light communications, with a focus on arrays of single photon avalanche diodes. In 2014, he was the lead author on the first paper proposing the use of fluorescence to create large-area, wide field-of-view optical concentrators for visible light communications. His current work explores the application of these technologies to visible light communications and contamination detection in the food industry and hospitals.
