Byron Byrne

Professor Byron Byrne is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Engineering Science. His research focuses on offshore geotechnical engineering problems, driven by industry needs and involving experimental and theoretical investigations into soil-structure interaction. His work includes the design of offshore foundations such as monopile and jacket pile foundations, with applications in offshore wind farms. Professor Byrne is also a Fellow of St Catherine's College and holds the Ørsted / Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair in Advanced Geotechnical Design. He is a Co-Director of the EPSRC Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy Hub and has been involved in several industry-funded projects, including the PISA JIP. His research has been published in leading journals and has contributed to practical design guidance for offshore structures.
