Luke Blades
Regular biography
Dr Luke Blades is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Engineering Science Department at the University of Oxford, specializing in experimental studies of fretting contacts. His research focuses on the design and use of novel experiments to expand understanding of damage mechanics in highly loaded contacts. During his PhD and current postdoctoral positions, he has been funded by Rolls-Royce plc, with much of his work involving matching mechanical experiment conditions to those in turbine engines. His current projects include experimental investigations of wear and fatigue in contacts experiencing micron-order relative displacements, with applications in aerospace and subsea connector technologies.
