Gui-Qiang G. Chen is a Statutory Professor in the Analysis of Partial Differential Equations at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on Partial Differential Equations, Conservation Laws, Nonlinear Analysis, Numerical Analysis, and Continuum Mechanics. His work addresses complex phenomena in fluid dynamics, including hyperbolic conservation laws, shock waves, and nonlinear equations of mixed type. He has extensively studied the vanishing pressure limit of solutions to the Euler equations for isentropic fluids, as well as the convergence of numerical schemes for gas dynamics. His research also explores global solutions to the compressible Navier–Stokes equations and the behavior of solutions under large initial data. Chen's contributions span both theoretical and applied aspects of mathematical analysis in continuum mechanics.
