Russell Cummings is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science. His research focuses on hypersonic modeling and simulation challenges and highly maneuverable aircraft simulation. Cummings holds a BS, BA, MEngr, and PhD in aerospace engineering and a B.A. in music. He is currently Professor of Aeronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy and Director of the Hypersonic Vehicle Simulation Institute. Prior to this, he was Professor of Aerospace Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, where he also served as department chairman for four years. He has worked at Hughes Aircraft Company and completed a National Research Council postdoctoral research fellowship at NASA Ames Research Center.
