Armanios Daniel

Daniel Armanios is a Supernumerary Member of Faculty at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science. He is also a BT Professor and Chair of Major Programme Management at Saïd Business School and a Professorial Fellow of St Anne’s College. His research integrates civil engineering and organisational theory to examine how organisations coordinate to build, manage, and maintain infrastructure amidst complexity. His work focuses on complexity arising from national and subnational variation in institutions, heterogeneity in individual capabilities, and reforms that aim to transition infrastructure from one set of guidelines to another. His findings inform efforts to advance sustainable development and innovation while addressing systemic inequities. His research employs a mixed methods approach that integrates qualitative and quantitative data.

His research focuses on Institutions, Infrastructure, Innovation, Public Policy, and Entrepreneurship. He explores how entrepreneurs leverage institutional intermediaries in emerging economies to access public resources and examines the role of institutional carriers in facilitating regulatory change. His work also investigates the impact of infrastructure projects on entrepreneurship and the social equity implications of bridge management. Armanios has published on topics such as certification dynamics, energy inequality, and the feasibility of remote-sensing-based hydrologic assessments.
