David Gavaghan is a Professor of Computational Biology at the University of Oxford, Department of Computer Science. His research focuses on the application of mathematical and computational techniques to problems in biomedicine, particularly the modelling of physiological and biological systems. He has supervised thirty DPhil projects to completion and is currently involved with the supervision of a further six. He was appointed Professor of Computational Biology in 2004 and has been instrumental in establishing and leading the Computational Biology Group within Oxford's Department of Computer Science. His work involves collaboration with internationally-leading clinical and experimental groups, both within the UK and overseas. He is also a fellow of New College and has held several roles within the University, including acting as Director of Graduate Studies for the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division.
