Regular biography
Dr Tiancun Xiao is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on developing efficient and environmentally benign chemical processes and functional materials for industrial and everyday applications. His work involves designing and preparing catalysts based on supported transition metals, oxides, carbides, nitrides, sulphides, and noble metals using platform technologies such as the organic metal matrix (OMX) method. These catalysts are used in energy production, environmental purification, and circular economy initiatives, including the conversion of plastics waste into hydrogen or monomers. His research also includes catalysts for CO2 to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and zero-carbon fine chemicals.
