Regular biography
Kylie Vincent is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. Her research focuses on understanding and applying catalysis at metal sites within enzymes, particularly in small molecule activation. She investigates redox chemistry and catalytic mechanisms in metalloproteins such as hydrogenases, nitrogenase, and carbon monoxide dehydrogenase. Her work bridges bioinorganic chemistry techniques, combining electrochemistry and spectroscopy to study enzyme active sites. Vincent has developed the HydRegen system for C=X bond hydrogenations using biocatalytic approaches, with applications in industrial fine chemical synthesis. She is supported by EPSRC, BBSRC, InnovateUK, and the European Research Council, and collaborates with industrial partners such as Johnson Matthey and Dr Reddy's.
