Regular biography
Theo Tanner is a Lecturer in Practical Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research background includes transition metal catalysis, computational chemistry, and mechanistic investigations. At the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory (CTL), Theo focuses on developing practical skills for first-year students, emphasizing competence and confidence in laboratory settings. He also contributes to teaching computational and digital skills in undergraduate chemistry education. Tanner completed his MChem at the University of York in 2019 and his PhD under joint supervision at York, where his work centered on the Pauson-Khand reaction and related photochemical reactivity. He joined the CTL team at Oxford in September 2024 after serving as an Associate Lecturer at York.
