About
Regular biography

Angela Russell is a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the discovery of molecules and mechanisms to manipulate cell fate and function, with an emphasis on degenerative diseases. Her work spans four thematic areas: controlling gene expression for genetic diseases, modulation of inflammation, regenerative medicine, and cancer medicinal chemistry. Notably, her research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy led to the development of ezutromid, a utrophin modulator, which was advanced to a Phase 2 clinical trial. She also collaborates on immunometabolic receptors for inflammation and explores molecular strategies for regenerative medicine and cancer therapies.
