Regular biography
Michael Neidig is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on synthetic and mechanistic organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and physical-inorganic chemistry, with an emphasis on iron-catalysed transformations and sustainable methods for organic synthesis. His work explores fundamental electronic structure and bonding in Earth-abundant and f-element systems, aiming to push the limits of chemical space through low-temperature synthesis and advanced spectroscopic techniques. Neidig's academic journey includes a BA from Colgate University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD from Stanford University. He has held positions at the University of Rochester and is currently a Tutorial Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry at Magdalen College.
