Regular biography
David Hodgson is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on the development of synthetic methods, particularly in the areas of catalytic enantioselective tandem ylide formation-cycloaddition, the synthesis of complex natural products such as squalestatin, enantioselective desymmetrisation of achiral epoxides, and the use of silyl and stannyl reagents in organic synthesis. His work has contributed to the design of new strategies for the synthesis of biologically active molecules, including potential therapeutic leads for hypercholesterolemia and fungal infections. He has held academic positions at Bath University, Southampton University, and Reading University before joining Oxford University in 1995.
