Jonathan Burton

Jonathan Burton is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on organic synthesis, with particular emphasis on total synthesis, methodology development, and the study of reactive intermediates such as oxonium ions. His work includes the synthesis of complex natural products and the exploration of radical and transition metal catalyzed reactions. Burton leads a research group that investigates synthetic methodologies and their application to the creation of biologically relevant molecules. He is also a Tutorial Fellow at Somerville College.
