Justin Benesch is Professor of Biophysical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on developing experimental methodologies to gain quantitative insights into protein states and structures, integrating data with computational strategies to uncover physico-chemical determinants of biomolecular function. His work explores structural and dynamical heterogeneity in proteins, the role of physico-chemical pressures in protein evolution, and the behavior of proteins under stress conditions. He is also interested in molecular chaperones, particularly Small Heat-Shock Proteins, and their interactions. Benesch obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge and was appointed to faculty at the University of Oxford in 2012.
