Simon Aldridge

Simon Aldridge is a Professor of Main Group Chemistry and Head of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on the design and synthesis of compounds based on group 13 and 14 elements, aiming to achieve groundbreaking reactivity in the capture and activation of small molecules. His work targets systems with unprecedented bonding motifs and electronic structures capable of transforming industrially relevant substrates. Aldridge has published over 200 papers and received several awards, including the Dalton Transactions European Lectureship (2009) and the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Main Group Chemistry and Frankland Awards (2010 and 2018). He is also Director of the Oxford/EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Inorganic Chemistry for Future Manufacturing and a tutorial fellow at The Queen's College.
