Charles S. Peskin

Charles S. Peskin is the Silver Professor of Mathematics and Neural Science at New York University, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on the applications of mathematics and computing to problems in medicine and biology, including cardiac fluid dynamics, molecular machinery within biological cells, and mathematical/computational neuroscience. His work includes the development of the immersed boundary method, a computational approach for fluid-structure interaction, and its application to diverse areas such as biomolecular motors and cardiac electrophysiology. His research also explores electrodiffusion in neural science.
