Regular biography
Alena Pirutka is a Professor of Mathematics at New York University, Department of Mathematics. Her research focuses on arithmetic and algebraic geometry, particularly the connections between arithmetic, cohomological, and birational properties of algebraic varieties. She investigates questions concerning rationality of algebraic varieties and invariants in the theory of algebraic cycles. Pirutka's work includes studies on hypersurfaces, cubics, and the integral Tate conjecture over finite fields. She is affiliated with the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University.
